- Scurry County
Courthouse on the
square between College Avenue and Avenue R on 25 th Street . The white
buffalo statue on the square pays tribute to J. Wright Mooar, who
killed a rare white buffalo near Snyder in 1876. Snyder, the county
seat, is the only area town which had its start as a trading post for
buffalo hunters.

College Avenue has a pond with public fishing allowed, picnic tables, a
kiddie park, a prairie dog town, tennis courts, and summer swimming.

along Deep Creek,
half-mile path, beginning at 25 th Street one block west of College
Avenue .
- White Buffalo
Park –
10 miles northwest of Snyder on FM 253. Nearby is the place where J.
Wright Mooar killed the white buffalo in 1876.
